Opening Doors at the Passage House

Meet Darla, a local resident and mother to a beautiful girl named Gabrielle. Below is her story, and why Devery Prince Insurance Agency is excited about teaming up with Covenant House Alaska’s Passage House, and supporting young women in need in our community.

“While at Passage House I have participated in parenting classes and learned many life skills. I have also participated in the Early Literacy program with my daughter and really enjoy it. I really value and enjoy the time Gabrielle and I spend together reading and I was also able to teach her baby sign.

One skill I also gained at Passage House is the ability to work and live with others. Passage House has helped me build relationships made up of friends, thoughtful mentors, volunteers and teachers and supportive staff members. I have also been able to reestablish strong ties with my family so that I can continue to have them as part of my support system. These relationships mean so much to me.

I have continued to prepare myself on that path to self-sufficiency and currently I am preparing to graduate from the Passage House Program and move into a place of my own. As I prepare to leave the Passage house I am striving to achieve additional goals. One is to establish myself in a career of working in the medical health services. Achieving my goals is important to me because I have dreams as well. One such dream is to buy a home of my own and to continue a life with my daughter and those I love.”

Donating to this campaign will provide resources to the Passage House so this amazing organization can continue to guide young mothers onto a path of love and self-sufficiency. To learn more about Covenant House Alaska, please visit
