I have a boat - What are my coverage options?
Boat owners insurance provides physical damage coverage for your boat, motor trailer and equipment for a range of hazards that can happen during storing, hauling, launching or running your vessel.
Physical damage coverage can also be purchased to pay for repairs and for partial losses to the boat and equipment.
Under The Repair Cost Option, repairs for partial losses (not including normal wear and tear) can be made without deduction for depreciation.
Other physical damage coverages may include:
Theft, fire, explosion, vandalism
Windstorm, hail, lightning
Damage in transit, collision, sinking
Boatowners liability coverage provides protection against accidentally injuring another person or damaging another persons property while using the covered boat. This can provide protection if:
The boat collides with, and damages another boat.
The boat damages a dock not owned by the insured.
The boat accidentally hits a swimmer who is not an insured person.
Medical payments protection can provide coverage for reasonable and necessary medical expenses resulting from injuries received as a result of a covered boating accident including:
The boatowner and the passengers in the covered boat.
Water skiers being pulled behind the covered boat.
You, residents of your household, and guest passengers, while swimming from the covered boat, if struck by any boat.
Optional coverages are available to help customize your boat insurance.
[1] Emergency Service: get additional protection against costly emergency service for your boat or trailer, such as:
towing the boat to shore or
changing a flat trailer tire
delivery of fuel, oil or a battery.
This option gives you the choice of increasing the Emergency Service limits above the $100 standard policy limit, up to an overall maximum of $500.
[2] Personal Possessions Coverage: can provide protection against loss to covered property such as your fishing or skiing gear, cameras and portable radios while aboard your boat.
*All coverages are subject to availability and qualifications. Other terms, conditions and exclusions apply. This is a brief description of coverage; this is not a contract. Please read the policy for full coverage details.
